The federal government stresses that every homeowner should test their homes every two years. As certified C-NRPP professionals, we can help you when you need it.
Cost-Effective & Simple
Testing for Radon in your home is inexpensive and easy. Just place the test kits, receive results. Removing Radon is as simple as installing a Radon mitigation system. It’s that simple.
Radon Testing is important because finding out that you have high Radon levels and fixing that problem can be a life-saving measure. The only true way to know how much Radon gas is in your home is to conduct a long-term test, which can range from a minimum of 91 days up to a full year. We also offer short-term testing, where we set up a commercial-grade detection monitor for a minimum of 96 hours (as per C-NRPP guidelines). When you get your results, we can begin the process of mitigating your home for Radon. Remember: Radon testing is recommended by Health Canada and is effective, inexpensive and easy!
Testing starts at as little as $45!
Radon mitigation is the process of lowering your indoor Radon levels through installing a Radon mitigation system, also referred to as an Active Soil Depressurization system or Sub Slab Depressurization system. These systems are designed to draw the Radon gas from beneath your home and vent it out of your home, making it safer and healthier for your family. The installation process generally takes one day. We can successfully decrease Radon levels to as low as realistically achievable (usually more than 95%) while providing you with the best customer service in the industry! The Facts About Radon
Natural & Dangerous
Radon is a naturally occurring gas produced from the radioactive decay of uranium in rocks and soil. It is colourless, odourless and tasteless. Recent studies have shown that the Western Canadian Prairie provinces are the second most Radon exposed populations on the planet. Radon gas seeps into homes through cracks in walls, floors, foundations, floor drains and sumps. Houses in cold climates are at particular risk since windows and doors are kept closed for over half the year, which allows the Radon gas to accumulate to such dangerous levels. It is recommended to get Radon testing every two years as any major ground disturbance (i.e. road construction) within 5 km's of the home can drastically affect your levels.
The Effects of Radon
Radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in Canada, accounting for about 16 percent of cases or 3,300 deaths per year. Radon is a Class 1 carcinogen meaning a direct link to cancer has been established by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Lung cancer is caused by prolonged exposure to high levels of Radon gas. A 2009-11 national study of 14,000 homes showed more than 1,500 had unacceptable levels. Some studies have also indicated that due to children having higher respiratory rates, they are more likely to inhale Radon and cause damage on a cellular level. This damage being incurred in childhood allows for more time for cancer cells to form due to the amount of life left to live.
